The event will present more than 140 custom, classic and modified vehicles, exhibiting the passion of our island's motorsport and automotive enthusiasts. The event will showcase everything from racing to off-road to strip and street vehicles and will include cars, trucks, bikes and more. The vehicles will be parked on the Boat Days Promenade in front of Aloha Tower, throughout the Marketplace, and at Pier 11 overlooking the water.

This show is promoted as a family-friendly event with a wide variety of free entertainment activities including R/C exhibitions, keiki bouncers, face-painting, carnival games, video game tournaments, as well as live music from The Gregg Hammer Band.

This annual show is promoted by the Oahu Motorsports Advisory Council (OMAC) in order to garner support for building a new motorsports facility on Oahu. The primary focus of this year's show is the work-in-progress Kalaeloa Raceway Park being developed by Save Oahu's Race Tracks, LLC (SORT). OMAC Chairman Michael Kitchens stresses the need for a safe and legal venue to continue youth education and the pursuit of automotive passions.

"SORT and OMAC have worked tirelessly for the past few years to find a new home for our automotive passions, and a place to have fun in a safe and educational environment mutual goals since we both started," said Kitchens. "This show cements our continued efforts and allows the general public to have a free, fun-filled day while experiencing the best Oahu has to offer in the automotive world. OMAC and its sponsors invite everyone to come out and support the effort to Build the Track!"

In addition to title sponsor Road Runner High Speed Online, the show is also sponsored by Firestone Complete Auto Care, HawaiiTalks.Net and another anonymous sponsor.

For more information about the show, contact Michael Kitchens at 782-7432 or log onto www.buildthetrack.com to see what this year's show has to offer.

Aloha Tower Marketplace is Hawaii's premiere waterfront destination for shopping and dining, with over 75 shops and award-winning restaurants. It offers a variety of free activities such as ukulele lessons and live entertainment. Validated self and valet parking options are available.

The thread is for discussion.

IMO, it's a good idea to have fund raising events for a track. Especially P24, because a lack of funding seems to be the holdup for that project.

However, putting on a free car show at a tourist attraction doesn't really make a lot of sense. I don't see how this helps the racetrack situation at all.

guys (and gals).. for discussion..

i think this buildthetrack show is good. just like how i view the Punishum show. regardless of if the opinion is different from saving HRP, to P9, to P24, to the Feed Lot.. the point is there isn't a motorsports facility to help accomodate the seemingly large racing community on Oahu. like the story that goes down the grapevine, the end recipient has confusion and usually one main question. in this case, its "what's up with the track?"

you get enough people to ask this question, hopefully it can make an impact on those who have the power to change things. racers need to be proactive instead of reactive, enlighten the public and hold people accountable.

big thanks to folks like you guys who are out there keeping this a topic on peoples minds.

I CANNOT believe you said that.

So LYING IS GOOD then in YOUR Opinion ? ? ?

That is WHY we have NO TRACK and you SOLD YOUR Car.

Ask former state senator Ron Menor verses Rep Karamitsu.

Both got BUSTED for DUI. One LIED the other ADMITTED Wrong.

One is still In OFFICE the other is a CIVILIAN.

People are NOT STOOPID Dave. WAKE T F*#! Up

LYING IS BAD

no, lying is not good. i meant, the confusion about "the track" will happen regardless of what anyone does to help promote motorsports. that's why i like your show and i like this show. i only hope to see more detail on the track issue which brings some things to light.

oh, and btw... i'm building another race car. this one has a giant scoop like the pro-stock kind and i've already painted it, new weld rims, this thing will rock.. and its street legal (or illegal)

the motor is going in shortly and then all hell will break loose. :D
