I was just informed by clutch that many of you have questions. Please submit them to get anwers. If you don't you will lose out.
I would hate for somebody to have NOT asked questions then show up for the event and find out you have to now spectate.
What I can tell all of you is that we are working with Pasha www.pashahawaii.com the official shipping company of Punish'UM Motorsports and Drift Series LLC, our shipping sponsor to bring in a team or two to participate in the July 28 and September 29 events as well. The November 17 and 18 event we will be having 16 to 20 teams from the US and Japan and not just their cars but if the teams have huge semi trailers we will be bringing in their entire operations.
The stadium will look like a real racing pit and fans will get a chance to get up close and personal with the real deals. For the first time in Hawaii a real racing series.
And the local boys better step up your game cause there will be BIG money up for grabs, national TV exposure and there will be a lot of BIG names in town. So if you want to get noticed, now is the time. This is the chance for the locals who can't afford to go and compete on the mainland to now have the world come to you.
Again the top 16 locals in points accumulated from July and September will be INVITED to the November event.
Only "50" drivers will be allowed to participate in July and September. First come first served. We will be having a drivers informational meeting and volunteer meeting coming up soon. We will let you know ASAP.
Please submit your questions because there are NO dumb questions, only dumb people who don't ask. :D

Thanks for your questions.
The cost will still be $65 and the rules are being looked at this coming week. I had looked at some of the rules and we are modifying them but I am getting input from our new race director and other top drifters as well. I had already made reference already to this in a earlier post. Please go back and look at those posts as nothing has really changed. I hope we can get the new rulebook posted prior to the meeting but we will have rulebooks on hand at the meeting.
We will hold the informational meeting once everything is in place. I am hoping in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the question. It will be 50 total not including the volunteers.
The volunteers will get an hour maybe 2 total. But then again, they don't have to pay the entry fee, get fed, drinks all day and a BBQ after with some sponsor gifts as well.
If you are NOT running tandem, you won't need a cage.

Hey everyone,
I'm a huge drift enthusiast from the mainland and I will spending a couple weeks in Hawaii to help a family friend out. I noticed you mentioned one of your final drift events is going to be on the 28th of July but, unless im real dumb today (which could be the case) i can't find any other information on it aside from whats on this post. I've never attended any drift events off the mainland before :( so im not sure if you guys do things the same as up here. Is the event open to the public? If so when and how much? I can't describe how awesome it would be to come and see this while im there. Anyone with any information, thanks a ton in advance. ;)
Oh and if anyone is interested email me, i have some great pictures from the D1GP event that took place in Las Vegas this weekend.

WOW, an out of Townie interested in Hawaii drifting. Right On ! ! I hope you realize that before drifting hit the mainland the sport came from Japan to Hawaii before it hit the BIG rock. And a lot of the top drifters in the US are from Hawaii. Ross Petty, Alex Pfeifer, and Barry Wong are all Hawaii's sons.
Gates on the July 28th event opens at 10 and the cost is $10 for spectators. Tandems of the top 8 will start at 3:30pm.
Enjoy it while you can because after the next 3 events local politicians have rallied to kick us out of the Aloha Stadium.
Hawaii leaders are waiting for a major fatality to occur before it becomes a priority.
As always, Hawaii leaders are always reactive instead or being proactive.
There will be a lot of Hawaii's top drifters accumulating points to qualify to be able to go up against the best in the world at the world finals on November 17 and 18.
Thanks and hope 2 C u there ! !

Well, there will be a bunch of people so you won't be alone. :D
I'd like to thank everyone who showed up at the drivers meeting tonight.
8 registered and a bunch more took home the rulebooks and entry papers and asked for more.
The last time we had 57 drivers who registered and more wish they did and I am making a limit of 50 drivers. That is it.
The 8 who signed up tonight are:
1 ) Sheldon Aoki
2 ) David Browning
3 ) Kurt Espina
4 ) Randy Faatau
5 ) Matthew Hiragg
6 ) Robert Perecko
7 ) James Teves
8 ) Alan C Whitworth
If there are any slots open on the 28th it will be on a first come basis and once we hit the 50 limit that is it. Many said they will mail in there entries before this Saturday to make sure they will have a slot and also avoid the additional $10 charge of $75. Same thing will be for the September date.
I can tell you that I only have 15 more entries.
There may be protestors from the area residents being organized by the areas representative Lynn Finnegan. I am trying to get Voter Registration to come out so we can get those of you who are not registered to vote to please help us get out and "Drift The Vote" for next year so we can oust politicians like these who are going out of their way to stop us from participating in our motorsports activities and not caring if we have a place to go to or in this case not.
Again my many thanks to you the drifting community and see you on the 28th. Until then don't do anything foolish on the streets to make it bad for everyone else.

Hey Ron,
Yeah no problem. I am changing things around. If you are shipping in your car and show proof that you had to bring it in from Maui and show your plane tickets I will waive your entry fees. Let me know ASAP because we are limiting the amount of drivers to 50. Points will be accumulated for an overall series champion from the 3 races and I am trying to get sponsors to put up some purse money too. It will be at the stadium on July 28 and Sept 29 and a BIG eevnt on Nov 17 and 18.
Let me know if you are coming for sure and I will reserve for you a slot. Also the medical insurance for you and the pit crew person still stands. Ok? If you got any questions call me. I am running everything this time around. Good luck man.

Tracey, can you double check the registration forms that you collected on the day of the meeting at Kakaako. I'm pretty sure my friend registered and paid right after I did. Cause I spotted him some money to pay for his entry fee
His name is Blake Gomes. He paid right after I did.
Thanks,

No Friday practice. We will be setting up on Friday. WE had to make a lot of changes because of the handful of complainers from the community as well as the area politician Lyn Finnegan. NO solutions, all they want is for us to stop drifting.
And to answer the other question Blake did not register. So if he shows up on Sat he will pay now $75 and wait in the longest line. Since you prepaid Randy you will get to tech first and get your pit stall early.
Ronin
07-25-2007, 02:48 PM
Tracy,
I'm trying to tell you that he did pay. Blake and I were the first two to turn in our signed forms & money. I asked you if we could pay on that day, and when you told us yes we signed our forms and turned in our money to the guy who wrote paid on our forms and put our money in the envelope. I just got off the phone with Blake and he told me that he saw the guy who collected our money write on his form somewhere.
Please double check his registration form. Blake did pay and I can vouch for him. He borrowed money from me to pay for his entry that day. This is messed up man, we were probably the first two guys at Kakaako that day at 4:30pm cuz we wanted to make sure we could participate. We were even the first two to pay and sign our forms. Please check with your guys. He paid.
Ronin
07-25-2007, 03:02 PM
oh yeah i forgot to add. Ask your guy who collected the money that day if he remember collecting money from a guy with a green cast on his right arm. Blake had a cast on that day.

They both said no. WE don't have his form much less the money. WE had 8 people only that preregistered that day. 6 more mailed there entries in and 2 waivers from Maui drivers. No Blake Gomes. These are the names of drivers who paid already.

hi,
is there a downloadable copy of the rules & regulations for the sept 29th competition? i'm mainly looking to see if a roll cage is required. also, if we missed the last event, will we still be able to compete in this one and November's final competition?
thanks.
punishum
09-04-2007, 09:10 PM
Thanks for the questions.
A roll cage is required IF you intend to run tandems. At this time we don't have a downloadable copy of the rules. But we will have some at the meeting coming up next week.
As for the November event anyone can particpate on the Saturday practice day November 17. WE will be VERY strict on the number of participants for Saturday November 17 because we need to allow enough track time for those competing in Sundays Main Event.
But the main event on Sunday November 18 will based on the top 16 in points to fill out the 32 field and have a chance to compete against the best from Japan and the US. 16 Hawaii boys, 8 Americans and 8 Japanese drivers. The points on Sunday will also go to the points accumulated by the top 16 Hawaii drivers to find out who the 2007 PunishUM Drift Series State Champion will be.
To make the top 16 will be difficult if you missed July's event because drivers like Ron, Keoni and Chris are running away with the points and this September's event, a lot of the other top drivers who didn't show up in July had given verbal commitments to start coming out.
I am expecting a very good showing from Hawaii boys to go against these other top international drivers come November. And because Pasha is our shipping sponsor it will be unlike anything before. A real international event, full competition. Not the exhibitions of the past with one or 2 drivers.

09-09-2007, 09:09 PM
Someone on FH asked why are we having this meeting. To get serious drifters who want to participate a chance to pre-register. Or you can wait to the day, pay more money and hope there is enough slots.
The July event was very fortunate for those 30 drivers who made it out.
Come November for the World Finals, it will be a closed field. If you are not in the top 16 you don't get in other then being invited based on points.

Ok, rollcage required IF running tandem, but what are the minimum requirements IF not running tandem again? 5-point harness, fire extinguisher, helmet, etc? Basically, what will the tech inspection cover? I want to make sure my car passes. I missed all the past events and I don't have any idea on the requirements. Is the online rulebook ready yet?

As long as you have functioning DOT seat belts, not leaking oil, nothing lose like battery tied down with bungy cord, speaker box rolling around, lose change etc., AND must have helmet, you should be good to go.

And...long pants and covered shoes are required. And proof of medical insurance (insurance card or policy or military ID card).
Also, if you have an aftermarket radiator, make sure it has a puke tank. And no open crankcase breathers. And if you plan on working on the car, make sure you have a blanket or some cardboard to put on the ground so you don't spill oil onto the parking lot.
Also, if you sign up on the day of the event, please get there early (before 8:00 A.M.) The faster we get through registration, the faster we'll get cars on the track. :D

Thanks for the question. Your pit crew member's entry is included in your registration. Your crew member has to be over 18 and have an ID of some type, drivers, state, military and proof of medical insurance. If you are military your ID is your proof of medical insurance.

A cooler will be allowed but inspected for "NO" alcohol and it must be a "MINI" cooler. You will be allowed "2" parking stalls.
Nothing more. It is up to you how you want to handle your "2" stalls.
And absolutely "NO" spiking into the pavment to secure your tents.
Again, any "BAD" behavior like "BURNING OUT" in the pits and just being "IRRESPONSIBLE" will be met with "STRONG" consequences.
There will be a "50" car limit. And only those who have participated in BOTH events will be invited to participate in the "WORLD FINALS" on November 17 and 18.
"OR" Unless you are in the top 16 in points. The November event will be an "INVITATION" Only event.

Clearing up some questions.
You can bring in cameras and video. Video only as long as it is:
"NOT" professional cameras and used for resale.
We also now have the rule books and the entry forms up on Punish'UMs new website. http://www.punishum.com/events.html
So if you can get it filled out before hand it will help to insure you may have a spot. I am not kidding when I say "ONLY 50 cars".
The more cars the less track time and it will not be fair to everyone to not have enough track time. Especially for the top drivers fighting to get a spot in the World Finals and for points in the state championships standings.
DRIVERS be there by 8am. 29 drivers have already signed up.
Spectator gates open at 10am. Bikini and donut contest between an Indy car and drift car will be at noon during the course break. Qualifying begins at 12:30 and Tandem eliminations at 3:30pm.
5pm track is shut down.

Tapes would be confiscated and I wasn't playing around.
I decided to allow it as long as people were on the honor system and not allow it for resale.
The someone goes and posts this "I resell um, I no care..."
A few immature individuals are going to spoil it for everyone. Because I will institute a total ban for the November event.

hey this isnt really a ??? more of a suggestion but, if novembers event is gonna be anything like the past two events open to all drivers. since waiting in a long hot line and cutting was such a big issue, maybe next time you guys can line up people in order of their #s on their car? i mean like call out drivers 1-10 line up and only those guys can run at the given time. then 11-20 and then the next group and so fourth. that way the line isnt too long and people can have time to adjust what they need on their cars, take a bathroom/food break and not have to worry about moving their car every 2 min. just to get one car length closer. just a suggestion that way we dont have to hear about everyone bit**ing everywhere. i know i for one was having car troubles and both me and my gf paid to drive but we still only got the same amount of runs combined (maybe 6-7 i got like 4-5 and my gf got like 2)as some single people got all day. and my gf didnt even get a chance to have her judged runs.
