Currently, there is support at the City Council to preserve Hawaii Raceway Park. However, the issue is stuck in the Planning Committee where MR. GARY OKINO DOES NOT BELIEVE OAHU NEEDS A RACETRACK. The Planning Committee did the same thing last year when Mr. Cachola was chair.

Racers who want a full 1/4 mile dragstrip and a facility bigger than 35 acres (1/2 the size of HRP) are encouraged to lobby Mr. Okino through email and phonecalls, or however else you can contact him.

Yeah, heard about that one. The guy is supposed to be a pro. You think he would have known better.

Unforutnately the new smoke and mirrors is that Street Racing has gone down since the track closed. Really ? ?

Tell me why traffice fatalities are up? Speeding citations are up? Packs of hundereds of vehicles prowl the streets now that were unheard of before when the track was open. Or most disturbing the amount of road side memorials now days. Have you noticed?

Nah, must just be my imagination. If politicians are PARROTING this, then it must be true, right? Because only a year ago for over a decade it was the cry that we need a bigger track to curb Street Racing. My, how these political types," Awwk, WCF @ P 9. Awwwwk." Okino wants a cracker? OR better yet, monkey see, monkey looks like you know who . . .

Former Senator Fred Thompson said he left Washington for the reality and sincerity of Hollywood. What does that tell you?

As reported in this article/video http://www.kitv.com/news/14237811/detail.html , the racers have turned to the State for help in saving Hawaii Raceway Park.

Last week, Senate President Colleen Hanabusa and Representative Sharon Har have introduced legislation to save HRP. SB2190 and companion bill HB2574 .

How often do these city council meetings happen?? Where?? Can anyone go? I would really like to be a part of any group that is trying to get the track open.

There probably won't be anymore public hearings this year. The best way to help now is to get on our email list and help send out emails to legislators when testimony is allowed. You can PM me your email address or call 676-4422.

Also, there is a meeting open for all racers and track supporters to discuss the track issues this Saturday 03/22/2008 6:00pm at Makakilo Elementary School.

2005, SO what was that, the advance on the blood money

Ahahahah, it has everything to do with you Jokeland. Your hands are stained with RED . . . All the way down to your Red GTO.

And hey, "Street Racing" isn't that illegal? Even against a Harley? You ought to know better that that.

Well this is Halie's step father and while we are happy to move back home to a place we love I guess I will sell my race cars before coming. What a shame, we love circle track racing and the friends that we have made doing it. I would love to help with its running and any help that I could give anyone. I have raced 410 sprints and everything down. I have 2 late models and modified and 2 four cylinder cars for Halie. We would even convert to dirt if we HAD to. Is there any circle track racing anywhere in Hawaii? Guess its Karting in Maui then, man I love the 3000 lb template late models and there 700 horse motors, I sure will miss them. God speed to all, Ryan

Thanks for posting, and you may get a chance to help set-up a circle track on Oahu. But it will probably be a while (as Mr. Speed suggested) before there is any actual racing here. They still have a dirt circle track operating on the Big Island, I believe that is the only one left.

Yes Sir, there is one thing you can do. And that is "PRAY" for us all cause it is a MESS let me tell you. Ever heard of the Ama crab syndrome?

Well, you're gonna experience it first hand and get frustrated like all the rest and walk away while us DUMMIES still keep trying to make something happen. For WHAT ? ? The racers DON'T give a Hoot anyway.

Anyway, welcome BACK to Hawaii. That is your INtro 101 to Hawaii "All BUS Up Racing".

Punishum, I will not give up on our efforts to get a track back. We will get to know each other i'm sure. I will be right next to you at board hearings, zoning meetings and maybe with my contacts we can even get rid of that bad dirt. I will help in any way I can. How is the drifting going? oh and like MC Hammer said, Ill pray. As far as racers go I understand what your saying about they don't care, most people don't realize it takes an "army" to implement change, and there is strength in numbers. Keep me up to date brother, Ill really rely on your opinion on rather or not to bring my cars and engines there or sell them here. Thanks again,Ryan
