John Force was hurt yesterday in an amazing crash but is on his feet today after grueling hours of surgery to repair his badly damaged feet and wrist.

HE was asking doctors if he can make it to the next race in 2 weeks. HE also apologized to Kenny Bernstein who got caught up in the crash with Force and John was concerned that he didn't hurt his fellow competitor.

See story at http://www.nhra.com/content/news/24477.htm and click on "Original Story" to see the video of that crash.

Commentary:

Now John Force is a true racer. Not only was he worried about his fellow competitor but when can he get back in his race car again.
Eric Medlen was watching over the cagy veteran.

All of the traditional stick and ball reporters don't think race car drivers are athletes. I think not. Look at how many of these
"Stick an Ball" players go on the Disabled List for throwing out their back from a "SNEEZE" ! ! Give me a break. Shoot um up with cortisone and send them back on the field. That's what they get paid to do. Sacrifice their bodies. If not they'd be flipping a burger.

If you ever watch the show "Joes vs. Pros", they play an average person against a former pro stick or ball player. No one has gotten hurt BUT if you stick any pro stick and ball person in a race car and they HAVE to handle the vehicle as fast as the pro driver can, I promise you, they will get themselves KILLED. NASCAR drivers have the endurance of a marathon runner, the strength of any quarterback and the quick reflexes of any ring type of fighter with "NO" Time outs, end of inning, walk to the next hole, etc., etc., etc. Or NHRA fuel drivers have the same reflexes and must handle G forces that only fighter pilots experience in a DOG Fight.

So to those who say that race car drivers are not athletes, get a few million, buy yourself a car and watch as you get yourselves at least seriously hurt but most likely DEAD. I hope you got your life insurance policy paid up and please, make a racers for kids fund the beneficiary.
